Since the seventies the property has had a few looks. From a Western themed biker bar, to a haunted attraction, to a soft ball field there were a variety of reasons to visit the Commons. After a change of ownership in 2004 Ye Olde Commons came to life as a permanent larp camp. For 15 years YOC ran strong with a different game transporting the land to a new world every weekend.
Like many businesses 2020 was a struggle for Ye Olde. While some were fortunate to stay a float, larp camps took a major hit and YOC was no exception. With closure seeming inevitable and developers ready to pounce on the land, it was decided to give one final go at making the camp successful
Because of the efforts of a dedicated crew of long time YOC larpers, the camp has seen a massive revival. They've experienced continued growth despite some stumbling blocks, tight budgets, and the herculean task of keeping all 42 acres running smoothly. Because of the continued and generous efforts of a deeply spirited community the future is again looking bright for our beloved game site
"We've seen some solid growth despite some hurdles ... But with the larp community helping us we have been able to make a safer, prettier, and more accessible place. In 2023 YOC happened to stumble upon some absolute champion humans from NH steel fighting scene and with that momentum and morale has boomed inspiring a whole new appreciation for nerd smacky sports and things that aren’t strictly larp
Anything beyond that would be prophecy ... But I’m very optimistic and excited to see how things continue to grow"
